PRENATAL YOGA SERIES IN BELMONT

NEW PRENATAL YOGA SERIES IN BELMONT

In her pregnancy yoga class, Bethany shares her love and wisdom for the mother-to-be and their unborn babies. She sees each woman and their baby as a divine gift, with pregnancy as a miraculous time of change and growth. Bethany practiced Kundalini-Naam prenatal yoga during her pregnancy and noticed a remarkable change in her inner strength and state of mind. This class will increase the bond between you and your unborn baby, give you the strength and courage to embrace labor, as well as relax, strengthen and stretch the body, preparing for childbirth and motherhood.

WHY PRENATAL YOGA?

PRENATAL YOGA LINKED TO SHORTER LABOR, LESS PAIN

“Findings published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice suggest that women who regularly practiced prenatal yoga, particularly in the last 10-12 weeks of pregnancy, can improve maternal comfort in labor and experience shorter labor. The findings were consistent even for women with no previous yoga experience, and after controlling for maternal age, income, education level, marital status, religion and maternal trait anxiety. Authors suggest that these effects may occur because yoga involves learning to synchronize breathing awareness and muscle relaxation, yoga movements and breathing may increase endorphins and serotonin, and practicing yoga postures over time can alter pain pathways through the parasympathetic nervous system.”

-Association for Pre- & Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPPAH) Newsletter Summer 2008

MIND-BODY INTERVENTIONS DURING PREGNANCY

Treatment groups who practiced mind-body interventions during pregnancy, such as yoga, had “outcomes including higher birth weight, shorter length of labor, fewer instrument-assisted births, and reduced perceived stress and anxiety”.

MINDFUL YOGA AS A VEHICLE FOR CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION

“The practice of mindful yoga paired with deep relaxation is an excellent body-centered preparation for labor and delivery.”

Mini-workshop for Relationships 9/02

Many of you have confided to me the difficulties you are experiencing in your relationships with loved ones. Some are on the brink of divorce, others cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, and there are those of you who feel the need to raise your relationship to the next level.

I feel compelled to share a tool that will infuse yourself, your loved one, and your relationship with Light. It is a meditation specifically designed to remove negativity from your relationship (can be with a partner, parent, friend, etc.), as well as open the heart and impart peace:

This mantra...is a prayer of the strongest potency, which will surround those who chant or listen to it with a blanket of light, and eats darkness out of their lives.
- Joseph Micheal Levry (Gurunam)

We, myself included, will continue the meditation for 40 days. The meditation will last between 11-20 minutes and can be done at whatever time of day best suits you. You will have the strength of the group behind you as encouragement to continue. Why 40 days? According to yoga it takes 40 days to change an old pattern. The number 40 is significant in many spiritual practices, such as Jesus fasting for 40 days, the great Flood lasting 40 days and nights, etc.

Workshop Details:

Wednesday, September 2nd
5-6:15pm
$20
Frally's Studio*
RSVP by September 1st

If you cannot attend but would like to do the meditation with us, I would be happy to meet with you privately to guide you through the meditation.

Take the steps to bring healing and light into your relationships and life.

Love and Light,

Bethany
